Sunspot ("we," "our," or "the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our application.
1. Geolocation Data
To provide accurate solar calculations (such as sunrise, sunset, and solar position), Sunspot requires access to your device's location.
- Usage: We collect your latitude and longitude to calculate solar events relative to your specific position. We collect device bearing to show sun relative position.
- Local Processing: This location data is processed locally on your device. We do not transmit your raw GPS coordinates to our servers.
2. Analytics (Mixpanel)
We use Mixpanel to help us understand how users interact with Sunspot so we can improve the app experience.
- Data Collected: We collect anonymous usage data, such as feature engagement (e.g., "Compass View Opened"), app launch frequency, and device information (model and OS version).
- Identifiers: Mixpanel may assign a random, unique identifier to your device to distinguish you from other users. This identifier is not linked to your real-world identity (name, email, or phone number).
- Purpose: This data is used exclusively for "Analytics" and "Product Improvement."
3. Data Not Collected
Sunspot does not collect, store, or share:
- Sensitive information, Health & Fitness data, or Financial info.
- User content (photos, videos, or audio).
- Contact information (unless you explicitly email us for support).
4. Third-Party Sharing and Tracking
- No Data Sales: We do not sell your data to third parties.
- No Advertising: We do not share your data with ad networks or data brokers.
- No Cross-App Tracking: We do not use your data to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
5. Your Controls and Rights
You can manage permissions at any time via your iOS system settings:
- Location: Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Sunspot.
6. Compliance
We aim to comply with global privacy standards, including the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the GDPR. Because we do not store your personal data on our own servers, we cannot "delete" or "export" movement history, as it is never held by us.
